Each time I paint a new garden, I am building a new interior world, a sensorial landscape shaped by time, green life, textures and smells.

This flower is usually associated with funerals, and I wanted to put it into an abstract setting. One immediately has a sense of what it is, but it is set in a dream like atmosphere, a symphony of greens and blues.

This piece is a real departure from my garden pieces, and was directly inspired by conversations with an astrophysicist who verbally described what the Big Bang was. I went straight to the studio and produced this piece, and when I showed it to him, he said “Hmm, yes, that could be it.”
