Pink Roses Against Red Hothouse

This large painting was painted onsite and was the first painting I complete at Eilenroc last fall. The bed of pink and yellow roses planted just in front of a long the brick-red hothouse (“serre”), provided an interesting color background for the upper part of painting, which balances the sun-bathed path to the right of the roses. Although the piece is loosely painted, the roses are surprisingly detailed.
