Yellow Roses in the Round

This piece was painted on a cool fall day. As the clouds quickly passed overhead, I was able to capture some of the shadowing of the clouds on the round path that surrounds this bed of yellow roses near the far end of the garden. Once again, sparse foliage is juxtaposed with deep purple new growth at the base of the plants. The overall arc at the top of the piece visually contains the composition, holding it down.
